Blossom Anomaly is a student group Project made in Isart Digital.
This is an exciting 2D platformer with dual grappling hook mechanics.
WALKTHROUGH
➯ Grappling Physic & Logic
The Dual Grappling Hook is a core gameplay mechanic in our game. Integrating it seamlessly while ensuring fluid gameplay and a smooth input system for the mobile port was a challenging task.
➯ The system :
The player aims in a direction, triggering two RayCasts. If no target is found, the system automatically searches for more distant grappling points within range. Additionally, players can slow time to gain more information about the grappling hook, providing a smoother experience for less experienced players.
➯ Game Feel & Juiciness
I created all the effects, particles, and shaders in the game. The grappling hook took a lot of time to perfect, and I added numerous effects to enhance the feeling of projection and speed, with a strong emphasis on the impact of the grapples.
➯ Player controls
In addition to the grappling hook, the player movement needed to be flawless in this movement-based platformer. I developed a physics system and fine-tuned numerous settings to achieve a responsive yet precise player movement.
➯ Team Management and Organisation
I led a team of 15 people for this project, collaborating with programmers, sound designers, and a full-time team of 8 game artists. I organized and managed Git workflows and oversaw the overall production process.
